Men's Retreat at Espejo Ranch
March 4-6-2010
Cost: $50 per person and includes meals, lodging, and transportation for 3 days & 2 nights.
All men are invited to join us for a 3 wonderful days of fellowship and fun. Enjoy fishing, hunting, skeet shooting, and great teachings from God's Word.
What to bring:
Your bible and a note pad – There will be some group time in worship and the Word, but there will also be lots of free time and wide open country to get alone and drink in the quiet.
Sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries and towels – Please keep in mind these are bunk houses on working ranches in the middle of nowhere, not at La Quinta! You may also have to walk outside to a shower or step over a tarantula on the way to breakfast.
Your own ice chest – With plenty of personal snacks and drinks. The ranch water is not usually used for drinking and it can get hot and dry during the day. The church will only be bringing a limited supply of water. We will feed you the main meals. NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED ON THE RANCH.
Your own “fire power” – A shooting range is available as are coyotes, hogs, snakes, bullfrogs and an occasional mountain lion. We are ruthless about gun safety but you are welcome to bring what you want. ABSOLUTELY NO LOADED GUNS ARE ALLOWED IN THE HEADQUARTER AREAS OR IN VEHICLES. Designated Guides will be in charge of the shooting range and hunting.
Other – bug spray, snake protection if you plan to get off the roads, good flashlight, 4-wheeler or jeep (if you have one and want to bring it), fishing gear, predator caller, binoculars, camera.
Directions:
Take I35 South past Cotulla, then take the Artesia Wells/Catarina exit and go Right on 133 (about 20 miles), turn right on 83 and go through Catarina. About 1 mile out of Catarina turn left on FM 2688 and stay on it even as it turns into a gravel road (the road will turn into gravel). Watch for the “Espejo” sign from here on and follow the direction of the arrow until you see another sign marking a turn. Once on the gravel, count 2 cattle guards and turn left at the 2nd one, turning toward the Espejo Ranch Headquarters. From the 2nd cattle guard, it is 2miles tot the Espejo ranch gate. Come through the gate and look for friendly faces! Length and Fuel:
The trip from San Antonio is about 2 ½ hours if you don’t stop, or about 160 miles one way to the Espejo gate. There is no gas within 30 miles of the ranch so top off in Cotulla or Catarina on your way down if you are worried about gas mileage.
