THE FAITHFUL GOD
Know therefore that the
Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of
love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his
commands. Deuteronomy 7:9
Alma was living near
starvation on the mountainside in Guatemala a few months
ago, and then came the hurricanes.
Her home and everything she and her children owned were buried in a
massive
mudslide. Alma told me that for months she had one prayer: “Lord give me
enough to feed my children today. Just today. Tomorrow I will pray about
tomorrow.”
This woman was behaving in precisely the way Jesus had commanded in
Matthew 6:34
when He said not to worry or be anxious about tomorrow.
As His people take small steps of faith, God honors those steps and He
shows
them that He is the God who is more than enough. In Alma’s case, He
provided
her with a new home and she learned that God’s love for her far exceeded
anything she had imagined.
Do you know that He is a God who keeps covenant and mercy with those who
love
Him and believe in Him? Have faith, go to Him in prayer, and ask for
what you
need today.
